Isn't it fascinating that...
The breath - a seemingly very ordinary thing - can connect us (as it does) with small things, like cells, and also really big things, like spirituality and the universe….
That’s a compelling idea, right?!
And so it’s weird that inside the yoga-sphere we don’t talk about it much!
There’s heaps of information about asana (and millions of opportunities to practice it). There’s heaps of information about meditation (and heaps opportunities to practice that too). There are far fewer opportunities to learn a) about breathing, and b) about pranayama.
So…
From the perspective of pure inspiration (because the breath is really inspiring) and from a practical perspective too (because breath-work is not an option but a necessity if you’re a yoga teacher or practitioner) this course has been created.
I personally wish I’d had this information from the beginning…

Want to hear about the course?
Here's what you won't find:
✘ You won’t find ‘peak’ breathing experiences. It’s not that type of course.
✘ You won’t learn Wim Hof or holotropic breath-work. You won’t be doing intense breathing practices at all.
What you will find is:
✔️ A comprehensive but easy to grasp curriculum that takes you through the physical, mental, emotional, energetic and spiritual components of the breath.
✔️ Theory in the form of anatomy, physiology and explorations of your mind and emotions, anchored in science.
✔️ The spiritual and cosmological histories of the breath.
✔️ The breath from yoga’s perspective (both through the lens of yogic philosophy and energy anatomy and through direct practice).
✔️ A library filled with accessible breathing practices that can be woven into your day. That includes formal pranayama practices, but also rolling techniques you can do with soft balls and tennis balls to help you unlock the power of your breath in an easy, fun, effective way.
So, What's specifically covered?
- The deep anatomy of the breath (and, if that sounds dry to you, remember that anatomy is really just the study of how the structures in your body - by virtue of which you can exist and explore the world around you - relate to each other and influence how you feel). The anatomy of the breath will bring the experience you’re already having to life, in technicolour.
- We’ll explore the role of the breath in fine-tuning the balance between the different parts of your nervous system so you can meet the demands of your life (and the demands of your body for repair).
- We’ll explore the relationship between breathing and fascia (fascia being the connective tissue in your body, and the richest sensory organ inside of you). It’s linked to your ability to feel your insides, and your ability to feel your feelings. It has important implications for your breath too.
- We’ll explore the link between breathing and emotion, and breathing and your mind.
- We’ll explore the relationship between your breath and the history of our planet. This is such an interesting topic. We’ll explore the chain of evolutionary events that led us to become a species of breathers. I love this because I personally find nature deeply spiritual and breath places us in connection to it in a way that is profound and inspiring.
- We’ll explore the spirituality of the breath. There’s a reason the roots of the words ‘breath’ and ‘spirit’ are so often linked. It’s something that spiritual traditions, for thousands of years, have recognised. Breath connects us to the deep mysteries of the universe, which is an exciting thing to explore.
- We’ll explore the role of breathing in yoga through the lens of energy anatomy and by breaking down a range of pranyamas in both theory and practice. You’ll learn how to do them, when to choose them and why they exist.
- We’ll explore a range of breathing techniques (using soft balls and tennis balls and things around your house) that aren’t pranayama so you have strategies for shaping your breath in easy, healthy ways that you can implement in your own life (or share with others if you teach). They’ll make you feel really good.
Finally, we'll incorporate all of this into a series of yoga practices (asana, pranayama, meditation) that weave it all together, so you walk away with multiple complete practices to share with your students or to add to your personal practice library.

Meet your teacher
Hey there,
I’m Karina Guthrie
I’m a yoga teacher and teacher trainer and, over the past 12 years, I’ve taught more than 1000 students how to teach yoga in more than fifty 200h and 300h yoga teacher training programs.
I lead in-person and online yoga classes, run 200h and 300h YTTs, online courses and continuing education programs and I mentor teachers. I’m really happy to be able to connect with you here too.
I’ve studied yoga in modern settings, and in traditional ones, as well as at university and, after all of that, I’m as passionate about it as ever.
What I’ve come to understand is that, although yoga can feel incredibly complicated with all its guidelines, techniques and philosophies, at its heart it’s very simple.
It’s a daily invitation to embrace yourself exactly as you are, to be fully awake to each passing moment, and to open to the extraordinary gift of existence (not just in peak moments but in ordinary ones too). And you know what? Breath ticks every one of those boxes.
I’m going to be honest, for the longest time I thought breathing was incredibly boring. But I remember hearing, during a meditation teacher training, that breath was fascinating because each breath was like a fingerprint (completely unique). I was shocked, not just to hear the idea but to realise it was true, and to find that, if I was willing to keep an open mind, breath awareness could unlock an experience of the moment that felt absolutely alive.
Can yoga (and breath-work) be a pathway to enlightenment? Yes. But they can also simply be the things that help you ‘human’ well, and which spark joy and grow awareness.

Join me for this journey
Join me for this journey into the heart of the breath - a phenomenon that is, at once, utterly ordinary and absolutely extraordinary.
This journey will lead you down a path of intellectual rigour but also absolute inspiration.
You’ll develop a deep feeling of mastery over the breath, a deeper connection with the mysteries of the universe, a deeper capacity as a practitioner, a broader knowledge-base as a teacher, and the satisfaction of knowing that everything you need can be accessed through the power of a conscious breath.
We'll start on 13th April, with all the modules being available for you to digest at your own pace. You'll have access to the content for a full 12-months - plenty of time to truly embody all the incredible insights you'll have access to.
