Subtle & Skillful Sequencing:
'Many paths, one destination'
We’re all searching for a sense of meaning and balance, yet each of us is unique. We have unique lifestyles, temperaments and needs, so a one-size-fits-all model of yoga practice doesn’t work.
How do we honour our uniqueness and also explore our sameness and connection?
In just four days you’ll...
Subtle & Skillful
Sequencing Mini-course
We all want to honour our commitment to practice in a way that keeps us consistent. We also want to honour our needs as they fluctuate day to day. The classes that are right for us on days when we're stressed and depleted may not be right for us when we're energised, after a good night's sleep.
How do we honour our long-term commitment...and also our daily needs?
Learn how to practice in a way that consistently, and elegantly, prepares you for meditation (and life) but is also flexible enough to respond to the inevitable fluctuations of life.
What my students are sharing…
“Thanks a lot for the course - it definitely started to fill the cup! It was a relief to hear that there is no one-size-fits-all model of practice and the importance of honouring one's one state of mind (and body).”

Learn to teach, and practice, intentionally with subtle & skilfull sequencing
In this sequencing mini-series, we’ll weave one theme through three classes (one hatha, one flow and one yin-style class), all of which culminate in the same pranayama and meditation, but which take three very different paths to get there.
Afterwards, we’ll explore each class and, using sequencing and theming debriefs, we’ll break down the key elements of each so you can see the sequencing decisions that made up each class, and why.
What’s waiting for you inside…

What previous students have shared…
“This is something I really, really needed! I’ve been thinking a lot about how to practice and teach in this way - especially for females, who don’t have a 24 hour hormonal cycle!
Going through hormonal imbalances myself has really made me realise how important it is that female bodies are properly catered for.”

Hi! I’m Karina….
Growing up, I did classical ballet - I danced five days a week for the better part of 14 years - it was my first great love. It was also the first experience of conscious movement I ever had; something I could pour feeling into.
When I stopped dancing, I experienced a void.
About 10 years later, I went to my first yoga class at a gym in New Zealand. At the end of the class the teacher handed me a pamphlet and said, ‘Why don’t you come to an actual yoga studio, I think you’ll like it’.
I did.
It felt like coming home.
There is something magic about conscious movement. It has the capacity to unlock parts of us I don’t think can be unlocked in any other way…
If you know how to approach it…
Over and above the choreographic element of a class (sequencing poses together in a way that feels nice), each pose category, breathing technique and meditation experience has a specific purpose.
Forward folds help you to feel calm and grounded, back bends energise you…
Nadi shodhana (alternate nostril breathing) balances the nervous system and the left and right hemispheres of the brain, as well as the energy in ida and pingala nadis. Kapalabhati, on the other hand, is an energy- system clearing technique that blasts through energetic blockages…
Some meditations build concentration, whereas others lead you toward spiritual experience.
To design a great class you need to know these things, and know how to blend the different techniques together in the same way you would spices in a recipe, so the end result is satisfying…and also good for you.
Being a great asana teacher is not just about choreography, it's about understanding the techniques and how to combine them so they don’t just feel good in the moment, but allow you to feel good in life.
It’s been 13 years since my first yoga class. During that time, I’ve explored the choreographic elements of sequencing, poured feeling into many thousands of personal practices, and learned more subtle body techniques than you can poke a stick at, and how to combine them together to create classes that truly nourish.
Subtle and Skilful Sequencing is an introduction to this. I’d love to show you the way!
Much love,
Karina
